Apple sells 11.8m iPads in latest quarter
25.04.12 | Benedicte Page
Apple has announced sales of 11.8m iPads in the quarter to the end of March 2012, a 151% unit increase year-on-year. Sales of iPhones were at 35.1m, 88% unit growth on the same quarter the previous year.
The sales helped push quarterly revenue to $39.2bn (£24.4bn), with net profit at $11.6bn (£7.2bn) compared to $24.7bn and $6bn in the same quarter a year ago. International sales accounted for 64% of the quarter’s revenue, Apple said.
Apple c.e.o. Tim Cook said: “We’re thrilled with sales of over 35 million iPhones and almost 12 million iPads in the March quarter. The new iPad is off to a great start, and across the year you’re going to see a lot more of the kind of innovation that only Apple can deliver.”
