Anobii sponsors Edinburgh's First Book Award
21.06.12 | Benedicte Page
Social network Anobii is the new title sponsor of the Edinburgh International Book Festival's First Book Award.
The award, now in its third year, celebrates new novels and short stories from writers showcasing their debuts at the festival. Previously sponsored by Newton Investment Management, it was won last year by Sarah Winman's When God Was A Rabbit (Headline Review).
Festival director Nick Barley said: "In addition to world renowned writers, Edinburgh has always been the place to discover something new, and we are delighted that Anobii are joining us to support our First Book Award." Anobii c.e.o. Matteo Berlucchi said Anobii was "the first company attempting to create an online discovery experience that can match the serendipity of literary festivals."
During the 2012 festival audiences will be encouraged to read and vote for their favourite from the 45 debut titles being featured, which will include comedian Russell Kane's The Humorist (Simon & Schuster) and Liza Klaussmann's Tigers in Red Weather (Picador).
