And Other Stories signs Ivan Vladislavić

And Other Stories has acquired the new novel by prize-winning South African author Ivan Vladislavić.

World English language Rights (excluding South Africa) in Double Negative were acquired from Isobel Dixon at Blake Friedmann.

The novel focuses on apartheid-era university dropout Neville Lister whose life is changed when he is sent to meet photographer Saul Auerbach.

Double Negative is lined up for autumn 2013. It will be represented by Faber Factory Plus in the UK and Europe, Repforce in Ireland, InterMedia Americana in Latin America and Consortium in North America.

Stefan Tobler, And Other Stories publisher, said: “There's no doubt in my mind that Ivan Vladislavićis one of the major writers in English. After Deborah Levy and Helen DeWitt, he is only the third novelist we have picked who writes in English. Like them, this is an extraordinary writer who is confident on the world stage.”
