Amazon has opened a Kindle store for China selling e-books through mobile phone devices, with Kindle e-readers to be sold in the country within two years.
The Chinese Kindle Store opened today (13th December) and Amazon is in talks with Chinese publishers on content deals, hoping to launch the Kindle within 24 months, according to Reuters.
The move means Amazon will compete with two other e-commerce companies in China: China Dangdang Inc and 360buy, which both have e-book platforms.
