Amazon Publishing has launched a new digital short story imprint in the US called StoryFront.
The imprint will also be home to Amazon’s digital literary journal Day One, a weekly publication dedicated to short fiction and poetry from emerging writers.
Daphne Durham, publisher of adult trade and children’s group at Amazon Publishing, said the company received “thousands of subscriptions” in the first week of launching Day One. “We know readers are hungry for short stories and excited about exploring new genres. With StoryFront, we’re feeding that enthusiasm by offering a wide range of stories curated by a team of editors who are committed to the craft,” Durham said.
US novelist William Lashner has written a short story, "A Bite of Strawberry", for the imprint, which features the return of his character defence attorney Victor Carl. In Amazon’s press release, the author said: “My readers have been clamouring for more Victor Carl stories, but not every story is a novel. StoryFront has allowed me to bring Victor back in an adventure that reaches its full power in a shorter form.”
