Amazon launches London discounted deals website
29.08.12 | Lisa Campbell
Amazon has also begun piloting a UK discounted daily deals website, AmazonLocal, to rival sites like Groupon and KGB Deals. Book deals are set to be among the offerings.
The website offers shoppers bargains on local services, products, and experiences but is so far just being offered to shoppers in London through local.amazon.co.uk.
Subscribers can opt for preferences on the deal offers they receive, including one option, "Electronics, Computers & Media", which includes books and music.
Gordon Willoughby, AmazonLocal director for Amazon EU, said: “Our aim is to be the place where customers can come to find anything that they want to buy online, so offering great deals from local businesses like restaurants, spas and theatres is a logical addition to the tens of millions of products that can already be found at Amazon.
"This is day one for AmazonLocal.co.uk and we will focus our efforts on providing a first rate customer experience for Londoners.”
The service was launched in the US last year.
