Amazon confirms Japan Kindle launch
24.10.12 | Lisa Campbell
Amazon will open a Kindle store in Japan next month, selling Japanese language Kindle e-readers and tablets.
The company will also sell its latest model e-reader, the Kindle Paperwhite, in Japan from next month. The Kindle Paperwhite should be available in the UK through Waterstones stores later this month.
Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s chief executive, said: “After 12 years of selling print books on Amazon.co.jp, we are excited to offer the millions of Amazon.co.jp customers the new Kindle Store, with the largest selection of the books people want to read, the largest selection of Oricon best sellers in books, bunko, and manga, and over 50,000 Japanese-language titles—all available to anyone with a Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Fire, Android phone, Android tablet, iPhone, or iPad.”
