Amazon will begin delivering packages in the US on Sundays for the first time through the US Postal Service.
Customers who use Amazon Prime, the retailer's premium service, will be able to order items on Friday which will be delivered on Sunday for free. Other customers can make use of Sunday deliveriers at standard rates.
The offer will first cover Los Angeles and New York, before being spread through other major cities around the US, including Dallas, Houston and New Orleans, in 2014.
Dave Clark, Amazon's vice-president of worldwide operations and customer service, said the move meant "every day is an Amazon delivery day". He added: "We know our Prime members, who voraciously shop on Amazon, will love the additional convenience they will experience as part of this new service."
