Advocate Art, artist agency and picture library, and Vendetta-Arts, animation company, have teamed up to convert children's books into iPad apps.
The alliance is targeted towards children's publishers looking to convert their publishing lists into a format suitable for the forthcoming iPad.
Edward Burns, managing director of Advocate Art, said the company had been approached by publishers at London Book Fair and had been commissioned to create apps by publishers including Tango Books and Caterpillar Books.
A spokeswoman for Vendetta-Art said: "We recommend to publishers that they don’t loose sight of the story telling element of the book or the book’s USP when bringing it to life on the iPad."
She added: "The iPad should be thought of as just another format – it can now make a book more audible, animated and interactive, sure, but not into some crazy toy that you can prod and swipe for the sake of it."
