John Murray has bought a full-blooded historical adventure novel by Jack Hight. Kate Parkin at John Murray bought UK and Commonwealth, English-language rights from Ian Drury, literary agent at Sheil Land Associates for an undisclosed sum.
Hight's debut novel is titled Siege and is due to come out in spring 2010. The story looks at the Eastern Roman Empire and a battle between the Turks and the Greeks where a princess, the emperor and a mercenary captain all fight to survive.
Hight is an American historian, who specialises in the medieval era. He holds an MA in history from the University of Chicago and currently lives in Paris where he is completing his doctorate.
