Accent signs five from Green
28.05.12 | Benedicte Page
Independent Accent Press has signed world rights in a five-book deal with James Green, shortlisted for a CWA Dagger for his Jimmy Costello crime novel Bad Catholics.
Green's new series will be historical espionage thrillers based on the history of the American secret service from the start of the 19th century. The first book, Another Small Kingdom, to be published in August, is set in the 1800s and involves a plot to overthrow the American republic and install Bonnie Prince Charlie's younger brother as king.
The second book, A Union Not Blessed, scheduled for April 2013, will look at the attempt by vice-president Aaron Burr to create his own kingdom in Ohio and Mississippi.
Accent m.d. Hazel Cushion said Green's novels were, "packed with action and fascinating historical detail and will appeal both to those interested in the history of the USA and to aficionados of intelligent spy thrillers".
