Accent Press has launched a new erotic romance imprint called Cariad, which will focus on contemporary and historical romantic novels with extra "spice".
Hazel Cushion, m.d of Accent Press, said: “Accent Press launched Xcite Books in 2007 because there was a gap in the market for hot and sexy fiction for women. Cariad will deliver those core values to a new generation of readers, who enjoy romantic novels that don’t stop at the bedroom door.”
Cariad takes its name from the Welsh word for love. Cushion said that Accent Press believes the Celtic name will have “international appeal”.
The first collections of novellas from the new imprint are being published in e-book and print-on-demand in July 2014, with new specially commissioned mass-market paperback titles due for publication in February 2015.
Accent Press was also named Book Brand of the Year for the fifth consecutive year at the Erotic Trade Only Awards at the NEC, Birmingham.
Cushion said the company was “delighted” with the win. “We never take our success for granted and are always looking for ways to keep our titles fresh and relevant,” she said.
In addition to other erotic and adult trade awards, Accent Press was crowned PrintOnDemand Worldwide Specialist Consumer Publisher of the Year at the IPG Awards in 2013 and it won the IPG Diversity Award in February of this year.
Last year, the publisher launched the Accent Amour imprint, which has published contemporary romances by best-selling authors including Dana James, Gill Sanderson and Cara Cooper.
