Safran Foer 'visual' titles to indie publisher
18.06.09 Katie Allen
London-based indie publisher Visual Editions has acquired two books by Everything is Illuminated author Jonathan Safran Foer. Visual Editions will publish two art books - one will be printed as a die-cut story, and the other will contain illustrated versions of two of Safran Foer’s short stories.
The deal was negotiated with Abner Stein on behalf of Aragi Inc. The first title will be published in June 2010 and the second is scheduled for a June 2011 publication.
Safran Foer’s primary publisher remains Hamish Hamilton in the UK and Little, Brown in the US. Safran Foer’s agent Nicole Aragi said: "They’re publishing entirely with Hamish Hamilton’s blessing."
Visual Editions publishes literary fiction and non-fiction, characterised by its use of "visual writing"—writing that uses visual elements as part of the writing itself.
Visual Editions is also publishing a re-issue of Laurence Sterne's Tristram Shandy in June 2010.
