Penguin titles head to mobiles

Over 2,000 Penguin titles will now be available on mobile phones after the publisher announced a partnership with Mobcast, operators of mobile platform GoSpoken.com.

All Penguin titles digitised to date in the e-pub format will be available, with the number growing at a rate of 150 titles a month. The publisher has made titles available on mobile phones previously, but said this was the first time readers could buy its books through simple steps on a fully integrated service, browsing, sampling, buying and downloading titles from GoSpoken.com.

Penguin group sales director Mike Symons said: "The mobile market offers us exciting possibilities in terms of reaching existing consumers through a new medium, as well as new readers who may not be accessing our content through traditional formats."

Gospoken, the audio and e-book-for-mobile company co-founded by writer Andy McNab, has
established relationships with mobile operators Vodafone, 3UK and Orange. A GoSpoken app is also available on the BlackBerry App World Store.
