The Future of Finance to Infinite Ideas
28.10.08 Catherine Neilan
Katherine Hieronymus at Infinite Ideas has acquired the world English rights to international consultant Adjiedj Bakas’ works in a “substantial, pre-emptive three-book deal” from Adrian Weston at Raft PR and Representation.
The first of the books is called The Future of Finance, and will look at the “major changes that will inevitably take place in the finance sector and will affect all of us”, the publisher said.
In response to the pertinence of the topic, Infinite Ideas is rushing out the first edition of the book, a four-colour hardback retailing at £25, ahead of Christmas this year.
The UK and international book launch will be supported with “major” consumer marketing campaigns. The launch dates for the second and third books—entitled The Future of Life Without Oil and the The Future of Us—have yet to be finalised, but both are expected in 2009.
Hieronymus said: “We are enormously excited to have signed an author of Adjiedj’s stature and believe that we’ve acquired an author of huge importance for these turbulent times who will be able to bring complex topics alive for every reader.”
She highlighted Amsterdam-based Bakas’s role on German and Dutch TV in explaining current financial events to a wide audience. “We’re expecting his particular wit and accessibility to work just as well in our markets,” she added.
The publisher also claimed his previous four books have sold in excess of 600,000 copies in the Netherlands.
