The distinguished literary agent Pat Kavanagh has died. Kavanagh, who was one of the agents to leave Peters, Fraser and Dunlop (PFD) for United Agents last year, represented a high-profile list of authors including Joanna Trollope, Robert Harris, John Irving and Andrew Motion.
She also represented Julian Barnes, to whom she was married.
A spokesperson from United Agents confirmed that Kavanagh died this morning and said: "Pat Kavanagh was an exceptional agent and a great friend. We all owe her a tremendous amount. She was an extraordinary presence who was much loved and will be greatly missed by her colleagues and her clients. All our thoughts are with Julian at this difficult time."
