Doubleday US launches internet channel

Random House division Doubleday in the US is launching a new branded channel with programming on books and author on internet broadcasting network KoldCast TV.

The new channel has more than 60 video book trailers and author interviews at launch, available within KoldCast TV's "Branded" micro network. The programming is also cross-pollinated into the company's new micro network, the "Book Theater," with related programming, organised by genre and author.

"Original video programming on the internet is increasingly being used by major brands as an effective means of reaching consumers," said David S Samuels, president and c.e.o. of KoldCast TV.

Sonia Nash, online marketing manager at the Doubleday Publishing Group, said:  "Video book trailers and author interviews allow authors to speak directly to readers and provide context to their work. We are excited to work with KoldCast TV and to share our entertaining programming with a larger audience."

Viewers will be able to purchase books featured on the channel after watching a video, via a direct link to a major online bookseller, and KoldCast is currently in discussion with several other book publishers interested in launching their branded channels.
