Waterstone's e-book bestsellers

Waterstone's has revealed its first e-books bestseller chart with a preponderance of crime and mystery titles. In the week ending 20th September P D James' The Private Patient, published by Faber, was number one, ahead of The Skeleton Man by Jim Kelly (ePenguin). The retailer did not reveal the number of e-editions sold, but has previously stated that first week's sales following the launch of the Sony Reader in early September were in their 1,000s.

The top 10 is as follows:

The Private Patient by P D James (Faber, £18.98); The Skeleton Man by Jim Kelly (ePenguin, £7.99); The Reckoning by Sue Walker (ePenguin, £6.99); Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter (Arrow, £6.99); Fractured by Karin Slaughter (Century, £17.99); Dead Run P J Tracy (ePenguin, £6.99);  The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (Black Swan, £7.99); The World According to Clarkson by Jeremy Clarkson (ePenguin, £7.99); Edge of Battle by Dale Brown (HarperCollins E-books, £6.99); Stone Cold by David Baldacci (Macmillan, £6.99).

The Waterstone's e-book store opened on 4th September with about 7,000 titles available.
