Dangerous for Whiting
Tim Whiting, publishing director at Little, Brown, has acquired UK and Commonwealth English language rights to a title dubbed "The Dangerous Book for Men".
How to Drive a Tank and Other Everyday Tips for the Modern Gentleman by Frank Coles will be published in October 2009 in a small format hardback. Whiting said he bought the rights from Ian Drury at Sheil Land Associates for a "healthy five figure sum".
Whiting said that the book would be published to appeal to the gift market for next Christmas. It will feature real-life practical tips for men, everything from how to hotwire a car to how to mix a perfect cocktail.
"It's seriously very funny but it does have a hint of a serious side," said Whiting. "The overall message from it is if it means anything to be a man, it's to embrace life and enjoy it."
