Bond's bookshelf goes under hammer
A collection of James Bond books owned by the man dubbed "the real 007" is expected to sell for more than £20,000 when they go on auction this week.
The Daily Telegraph reports that the books, including a rare first edition of the original Bond book Casino Royale, were part of the collection of Sir Fitzroy Maclean, a lifelong friend of the spy's creator Ian Fleming and possible inspiration for his work.
The books, which include every Bond novel from 1953 onward, are due to go under the hammer at Lyon and Turnbull auctioneers in Edinburgh on Wednesday after being put up for sale by his family.
