More interest in Reed magazines
German magazine publishing house Gruner & Jahr is interested in buying the trade magazines unit of publisher Reed Elsevier. German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung said Gruner & Jahr, a unit of German group Bertelsmann, had confirmed the interest, citing a spokesman.
Reed Business Information, which includes Variety, New Scientist and Publishers Weekly, was put up for sale last February.
The Daily Telegraph reported last week that up to 12 bidders submitted first-round offers for the business, valued at between £1bn and £1.25bn
