Ebury Press reveals how not to write a bestseller
Ebury Press has bought a book about trying, and failing, to write a bestselling novel, written by Tim Clare, presenter of the Channel 4 series "How to Get a Book Deal".Ebury editor Ken Barlow bought UK, Commonwealth and Canadian rights from Maggie Evans of David Higham Associates. We Can't All Be Astronauts: One Man's Attempt to Write His Way Out of Failure will tell of Tim Clare's various adventures as he struggles to produce his bestseller, including grovelling to Jeffrey Archer on a reality TV show, having "a fraught encounter with The Most Powerful Woman in Publishing" (Amanda Ross), and tracking down his literary hero only to discover that he is a penniless misanthrope. Barlow said: "Ironically, given the spectacular failure of his aborted novel, Tim is a fantastic writer—his prose contains both the bumbling charm of Jon Ronson and the splenetic bile of Charlie Brooker."
We Can't All Be Astronauts will be published in trade paperback in June 2009.
