Jings! More Broons for Xmas

Geddes & Grosset imprint Waverley Books is following up last year's Christmas bestseller Maw Broon's Cookbook with another two prandial publications inspired by Scotland's first family.
Maw Broon's But An' Ben Cookbook, which is released on 18th September priced £9.95, follows the same focus on nutritional cooking using organic, seasonal produce—as well as a handful of old-fashioned "full fat" favourites.
Named after a But an' Ben, a two-roomed country cottage, the latest Broon book features more than 150 of Maw's "hame fae hame" traditional recipes for round-the-year breaks from the city. The full-colour hardback has hundreds of tips and cuttings, including how to make the best bramble jelly and winter whiskey marmalade, as well as guides to family days out, picnicking and foraging for free food.
Last year was a success for Scotland's first family, with Maw Broon's cookbook topping the Scottish charts for nine weeks, as well as winning the 2007 Gourmand World Cookbook Award.
To celebrate the launch of the book, Waverley is running a competition for booksellers, with six hampers worth up to £250 going to the best-dressed window displays.
The publisher is also launching The Broon's Burns Night, a £4.95 converted exercise book full of recipes and Robert Burns' songs and poetry. Originally released as a giveaway with Scottish newspaper the Sunday Post in January, the book has been expanded for trade and is due out on 9th October.
A third Scottish cookbook, The Complete Book of Mince, was written by imaginary celebrity chef Rene LaSagne, and celebrates the contribution mince makes to the diet in Scotland and the rest of the UK. It is released on 25th September.
