Hosseini is reading groups favourite
Khaled Hosseini's first novel, The Kite Runner, has been voted the book of the year by reading groups, reports the Guardian, with his second novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, in second place.
More than 100 groups cast their votes via the Penguin and Orange websites and by entering themselves for the Penguin/Orange Broadband Readers' Group Prize. Other titles selected included Old Filth by Jane Gardam, Victoria Hislop's The Island, Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisonwood Bible and Andrea Levy's Small Island--all in joint third place.
