CUP buys Archive Editions
12.08.08 Catherine Neilan
Cambridge University Press has acquired history publisher Archive Editions for an undisclosed sum, in a move that will open up research in political development and boundary formation to CUP customers. Focusing on primary resources for academic research and political consultation, Archive Editions specialises in documenting state development in the Middle East.
Andrew Brown, m.d of academic and professional publishing at CUP, described it as an important move for the company. “We will be working with the Archive Editions team to develop content which is even more rich and diverse," he said.
Jim Dening, who founded Archive 20 years ago, said the move would provide "stability for the loyal team who have been with us for many years". He added: "This change will ensure that we are able to take full advantage of the digital potential of our volumes."
The new business will be called Cambridge Archive Editions, and will continue to operate from Buckinghamshire "for the time being", CUP said.
