Simon Gray dies
The playwright and memoirist Simon Gray passed away suddenly on the 6th August, his publisher has reported. Granta said that it had been publishing his volumes of memoirs (The Smoking Diaries, Year of the Jouncer and Last Cigarette) to great critical acclaim.
His most recent volume, Coda (published with Faber), is due to be published in November. "Everyone at Granta and Faber is extremely shocked and saddened by the news," the publisher added.
