Know the Score goes for glory
06.08.08 Anna Richardson
Independent sports publisher Know the Score Books is launching a new multimedia partnership with ITV.com this weekend to promote author Spencer Austin. "The Gloryhunter: One Man’s Quest For The Ultimate Football Season", which launches tomorrow (9th August) to coincide with the start of the 2008/09 football season, will see Austin travel the country from one football match to another.
He will start in Grimsby and then follows the winning team from each game he watches. His progress will feature on ITV.com through twice-weekly video "webisodes", blogs, text updates, viral marketing, and exclusive stills.
Austin will also promote his new book, Chasing the Eighties, on his travels, and Know the Score will release a book version of The Gloryhunter at the end of the season, pre-promoted on ITV.com/football throughout the year.
Marc Webber, head of content at ITV.com, said: "The Gloryhunter – a true exploration of football culture in the United Kingdom – will touch millions of football fans and shows ITV’s commitment to providing exclusive content for our online audience."
Know The Score Books m.d. Simon Lowe added: "Desktops everywhere will click and follow the The Gloryhunter’s exploits around the country on itv.com/football for an entire season. Exciting and ground-breaking, it is THE cult concept of 2009."
