Mileham switches to Play.com
25.07.08 Graeme Neill
Borders books category manager Caroline Mileham is to join Play.com, replacing Georgina Stoaling who resigned last week.
A start date has not been confirmed but head of product David Rimmer said: "We're delighted that someone of Caroline's stature has strengthened the books team."
Mileham left Borders last week, with her departure believed to have affected the final decision on the new structure of Borders' buying team. The 12-strong team was asked last month to reapply for their jobs after an internal review. A four-week consultation period was due to finish on 21st July.
Meanwhile, Borders also announced that it is closing its store in Lakeside, west Thurrock in the middle of August. Chief executive Downer said the store had not been achieving "viable sales". The shop employs 24 and Borders is looking at alternative employment for the booksellers.
