Borders launches affiliates programme
21.07.08 Graeme Neill
Borders.co.uk's new affiliate programme has had almost 150 websites sign up since it was launched last week. The websites that take part in the programme receive a 7% commission from the purchases of books, CDs, DVDs and magazines subscriptions made through referred sales. For the first month, Borders is also offering a commission of 8% as an introductory offer.
Each month the affiliate websites will be entered into a prize draw where they have the chance of winning £50 worth of Borders merchandise.
The programme is operated in partnership with UK affiliate network Affiliate Window. Affiliate websites pay a nominal £5 fee to join but this is reimbursed from the referred sales. "Not only is this a financially good business opportunity for [the affiliates], but they will also have the chance to work with a passionate and original brand which has made a strategic move towards becoming a real destination store in its own right," said Claire Bending, online marketing executive at Borders.
To mark the launch of the affiliate programme, Borders.co.uk is offering its partner websites a special banner advert to promote A Sports Car Treasure Hunt for Two competition. Banners for the competition, which offers customers the chance to spend a day driving six classic sports cars, will be available from the Affiliate Window website later this week.
