Management team buys B&T

The management team trying to save Butler & Tanner has bought the assets of the Somerset-based printer for £500,000, backed by poet and entrepreneur Felix Dennis.

The team is led by Kevin Sarney and also includes fellow directors Dave Mills and Jeremy Snell and former managing director Peter Maunder. It was advised by Target Corporate Finance on the buyout.

Sarney said: “We would like to thank all those who have supported us, in particular Felix Dennis. We still believe that there is a need within the UK market for the services that Butler & Tanner can provide."

He added that there would now be discussions with other interested parties, finance companies, the landlord and the trade union, and the team was looking to relaunch the company "within the next ten days".

Mark Harman, head of the Target team, said: “Kevin and his team have pulled out all the stops in their attempts to save Butler & Tanner and we wish them every success in getting the business back on track.”
