Revenge Ink pens opening chapter

Revenge Ink, a new independent Anglo-Indian publishing firm, has been launched by author siblings Amita and Gopal Mukerjee, specialising in "subversive and cutting-edge" writing from young first-time writers. Based in London, Revenge Ink will publish its first two novels later this year, written by the founding pair. Amita Mukerjee's novel Ugly Duckling and Gopal's fantasy fiction tale The Armageddon Mandala were published in India in March, and will be launched in the UK in July or August.

The next offering from the fledgling firm will be an anthology of short stories by young Indian writers, which the company will publish in India in 2009. It plans to publish a second anthology for the English-speaking market next year. It expects to publish around five fiction titles a year over the next three years, and approximately 10 to 15 titles a year thereafter.

"We are interested in work by young writers, particularly young Asian women who don't conform to the Bridget Jones model," Amita said. More information can be found at www.revengeink.com.
