Rider acquires new Mark Tully

Rider Books has acquired a new title from author and India expert Mark Tully. Tully, who was the BBC’s chief of bureau in New Delhi for more than 20 years and still lives in the city, continues to produce freelance projects for the BBC, including the long-running Radio 4 series “Something Understood”.
In the new book (working title Changing India), he will look back on his experiences in the country and examine how it has changed over the past two decades. He will analyse topics such as the rise of consumerism and the effect of Hindu fundamentalism.
The publisher bought world English-language and audio rights (excluding India) from Gill Coleridge at Rogers, Coleridge & White. The book is set to be published by Rider in 2010.
Tully’s previous books include India in Slow Motion, No Full Stops in India and India’s Unending Journey, which is released in paperback later this year.
