HC takes Amazon spotlight
20.06.08 Alison Flood
Amazon.co.uk and HarperCollins are launching "Authors in the Spotlight", a new promotion they say will "prominently expose" contemporary authors to Amazon's customers. The promotion will be on the front page of Amazon's book section, and will feature a new author each week, including interviews, video clips and extracts. It will also highlight the author chosen with an email to interested customers.
The first author to be part of the promotion is Joseph O'Neill. Future authors include Roma Tearne and David Wroblewski.
Harper Press Books m.d. John Bond said: "Authors in the Spotlight is a great opportunity for the literary stars of tomorrow to introduce themselves to Amazon's book-loving customers. We're delighted to work with Amazon to bring Harper Collins authors' to the widest possible audience."
Amazon.co.uk vice president of media Chris North added: "HarperCollins has long been a leader in innovating on behalf of its authors. We are excited to work with such a forward-looking publisher in creating new programmes such as Authors in the Spotlight to bring their authors' work to the broad Amazon audience."
