Editis staff to deliver petition

Staff at French publisher Editis will present a petition demanding higher bonuses following the sale of the company. The petition is to be delivered to the company's management at its Champs Elysées headquarters today (18th June), the petition calls for staff to be paid 25% of the net capital gain received by the management from the sale of Editis from Wendel to Spanish media group Planeta earlier this year.

The initial offer of €600 for each of the 2,500 employees has already been increased to €1,000 gross, but this has been dismissed by unions representing Editis staff. A joint communiqué by the five union groups said €1,500 net per head would enable "an honourable exit from the crisis".

The petition is the latest step in the increasingly acrimonious dispute between the former owner of Editis, Wendel, and the publishing company's employees who feel they should have benefited more from the sale to Planeta.
