Hachette Livre UK has appointed Chris Emerson to the newly created role of chief operating officer for the group. Emerson starts on 7th July. He has previously worked for Technicolor, which provides manufacturing and supply chain management services for Hollywood studios, games developers and independent rights holders. He was most recently vice president of strategy for Europe.

Hachette c.e.o. Tim Hely Hutchinson said his appointment signalled "the commitment of Hachette Livre, both in the UK and internationally, to developing the digital and other infrastructure of our group so that it stays at the forefront of modern publishing in educational and consumer markets that are rapidly changing".

Emerson added: "I look forward to working with Tim and the team at Hachette to deliver a world class infrastructure to support the requirements of authors, publishers and retailers in this increasingly dynamic marketplace."
