Fast growing Quercus
Quercus Publishing is a fast-growing books business with great expectations, according to the Telegraph. Quercus develops books expressly for supermarkets, retailers and museums. Quercus wants to become the leader in this field and is focusing on history, science and biography books. Smith says: "We start with the idea. We will create a one-page synopsis that outlines what the book is about and who the author is. We have produced a book called The Human Body this way."
Bill Mitchell, the chief executive of Bertoli Mitchell, a specialist corporate finance boutique focused on publishing, says: "Quercus gets high-brow authors to write middle-brow books. You go through its catalogue and want to read what it sells."
