The Random House Group has created a new role of digital publisher, appointing former Sony BMG vice president of digital marketing Jonathan Davis to the post.
RHG digital director Fionnuala Duggan said Davis’ career at Sony had included handling mobile phone, ringtone and track downloading deals for major artists such as Will Young and Dido, in the UK market and globally.
His new role would involve identifying and developing creative digital publishing projects across the Group, she said. “A lot of our big authors have built their own websites and created businesses around them and Random House wants to extend its offer to authors around their businesses, as well as developing web publishing projects to help our authors take their material online”.
Davis will work both to build central infrastructure and in close collaboration with editorial and marketing teams across the Group, she added.
