HarperCollins has acquired world rights in the official tie-in book to the Bafta award-winning BBC comedy series "Gavin & Stacey".
Natalie Jerome, editorial director at Harper Non-Fiction, bought Gavin & Stacey: From Barry to Billericay from Veronique Baster at David Higham and Ruth Young at United Agents.
The book, written by co-stars and co-creators of the series Ruth Jones and James Corden, will be published in October. "Gavin & Stacey" is a BBC Three comedy about a young couple and their quirky families in Essex and south Wales. The book will feature new material, script extracts, photographs and illustrations from the comedy series.
Jerome said it would be an "amazing treat" for fans. "I think the whole country has fallen in love with the show and the characters Ruth and James have created," she said.
Jones and Corden will promote the book on publication. "We are very excited about the book, and are looking forward to sharing more of Gavin and Stacey's world with our fans, whether they live in Essex, south Wales or any of the bits in between," they said.
