Amazon cuts cost of Kindle
Amazon.com has cut the price of its Kindle eBook reader by 10% to $359 from $399. The change was reflected on Amazon.com's website and was not pre-announced. Amazon has not explained the price change, but it follows renewed speculation about how many devices Amazon.com has now shipped—analysts believe the retailer made about $10m from Kindle sales in its first quarter, resultling in 25,000 devices sold. Other estimates range from 10,000 to 30,000.
Amazon founder and c.e.o. Jeff Bezo also revealed some news about the Kindle at the D: All Things Digital conference in California, where he was interviewed by Walt Mossberg. According to various blogs from the event, Bezos said that the Kindle was selling well, "we’re extremely happy about it". He indicated that there would a second version, a third version, a tenth version, but added that a second version was not that near.
