Clark steps up at Granta
Alex Clark is to move up into the position of editor of the literary magazine Granta, following the departure of Jason Cowley to the New Statesman. She will be the first female editor of the journal and will take up the post later in the year.
Managing director David Graham said: "Alex Clark has been a hugely impressive deputy - demonstrating clear and intelligent literary judgement and calm leadership. I am delighted she has agreed to become the new editor at Granta. I look forward to working with her more closely and continuing to build on the good foundations laid down by Jason Cowley."
Publisher Sigrid Rausing added: "We are extremely happy to make this announcement, not least because she will be the first woman editor of Granta. Whilst this is not in any sense the reason for her appointment, it is still cause for celebration."
