Leck becomes m.d. at APA
20.05.08 Victoria Arnstein
APA Publications has promoted Katharine Leck to m.d. following the retirement of Jeremy Westwood, who headed up the company for more than a decade. Leck joined APA, which encompasses the Berlitz and Insight Guides brands, in January this year as publishing director. She previously spent ten years at Random House in a variety of roles across marketing and publishing, followed by seven years at Lonely Planet.
Leck will also replace Westwood as a board member for the Michelin/APA joint venture that publishes the Michelin Green Guides.
Commenting on her new appointment, Leck said: "APA consists of a great team of people, fantastic products and two recognizable brands - a great foundation for growth and future success and I'm delighted to be a part of it."
Vince Docherty has also been promoted to the role of language publisher. He will work alongside Leck to manage the language business within APA.
