Rosen sets the record straight on HP
Michael Rosen has responded to reports that he found J K Rowling's Harry Potter books boring and inappropriate, saying "I fear I've been misrepresented".
In a statement released to clarify his position on Harry Potter, he said: "I was interviewed on my mobile phone. My answers may not have been heard correctly or been interpreted somewhat mischievously."
He added that his remarks had in fact meant "that the novels aren't my personal choice of reading. That's me as an adult", that he understood how and why the books were fascinating for kids, that he supported that interest "passionately", but that Enid Blyton "is an easier read for younger kids".
"I’ve always supported and defended J K Rowling when ever Harry Potter has been criticised," he concluded.
