14.05.08 Graeme Neill
Waterstone's has appointed Toby Bourne, who had been interim children's category manager since November, to the role on a permanent basis. He will continue to be responsible for fiction and related product.
The retailer has also appointed Carol Gill as its children's champion. She joined the company on 12th May on an initial three month contract. A spokeperson said she would be responsible for developing the category and "championing children's bookselling for Waterstone's within the business and the children's book industry". Gill has more than 15 years experience in children's books. She was previously working as a consultant to clients including Penguin, Random House Children's Books and HarperCollins.
Sarah Clarke will continue as buying manager for the children's department. She will keep her existing responsibility for buying and ranging.
Bourne stepped into the children's role in November after the departure of Wayne Winstone. Winstone has since taken a new role as business development director at schools book fair company Troubadour.
