Orbit has announced plans to grow its UK and US lists in a three-year phased expansion. In the US, where Orbit launched last year, the imprint will double in size by 2011, taking its title output to 70 to 80 titles per year, while the UK will see the size of the list increase by around 10 per cent per annum over the period.
Orbit is also expanding its publishing teams with an additional editor currently being hired in the US and Darren Turpin joining as an additional marketing executive in the UK. Bella Pagan has been promoted to commissioning editor in this country.
Tim Holman, Orbit publisher, said: “There is a clear and significant opportunity for any SFF (science fiction and fantasy) publisher looking to expand the core readership and we intend Orbit to be at the forefront of the effort attract more readers to SF and Fantasy.”
