Transworld scores with O'Gara
Transworld Ireland has acquired world English-language rights in the autobiography of Irish rugby star Ronan O'Gara.
The book, due in October, was acquired by publisher Eoin McHugh from Jonathan Harris at Luxton Harris for an undisclosed sum. O'Gara is regarded as one of the finest rugby players Ireland has produced, and is among the top 10 all-time points scorers in the world. Born in California but raised in Cork, O'Gara made his international début in 2000 and has gone on to win more than 80 international caps and score 827 points for Ireland. He is the record points-scorer in Irish rugby history.
The autobiography, which was described by the publisher as "candid and illuminating", will also include the setbacks in O'Gara's career. Ireland was one of the favourites in last year's Rugby World Cup, but crashed out following a series of disappointing performances. O'Gara also faced a string of allegations about his private life during the tournament. The book will include the tale of Ireland's Six Nations campaign this year, where O'Gara was named as Irish captain for the first time.
