Gene Hackman to concentrate on writing
Oscar-winner Gene Hackman has retired from his acting career, because he wants to be taken seriously as an author, according to Female First.
The star wants to spend more time writing books after recently publishing his third historical novel, Escape From Andersonville.
According to the website, Hackman believes he has found his real passion in writing - because he is now more critical of his work. He said: "I never read reviews of the films I've done but I read reviews of the books.I'm a neophyte at this and I want some kind of reinforcement that I should continue."
