New indie takes children's focus
A new independent bookshop opening in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, this month will focus on children’s books and small, independent presses. About one quarter of its 280 sq ft space will be given to children’s books.
Rachel Phipps, who has worked as a bookseller for a number of independent bookshops in the region, said: “The current trading climate means that independents really need a point of difference to stand out. You need to stock titles that people might not have seen elsewhere.”
The Woodstock Bookshop will be the only bookshop in the area, with its nearest competitors five miles away in Oxford. It will open this Saturday (3rd May).
