Thomas brushes off Picador sale rumours

Macmillan c.e.o. Annette Thomas has firmly dismissed speculation over the future of Pan Macmillan’s literary imprint Picador, which remains without a publisher over three months after Andrew Kidd announced his departure.
Thomas said the recruitment of Kidd’s successor would be conducted by the next m.d. of Pan Macmillan. “At the moment we are recruiting for the new m.d. who will then take over the responsibility of recruiting the new Picador publisher and create their own team,” she said. “There is absolutely no truth in any rumour that Picador is up for sale, or that Pan Macmillan is up for sale. Trade publishing makes up a substantial and important part of our business and we’re absolutely committed to it. It is absolutely business as usual.”
