Latest celebrity kids books reviewed
The Mirror is looking at the trend of celebrity children's books, pitting Coleen McLoughlin and Geri Halliwell's latest offerings against each other, and recruiting four young readers to share their opinions.
"The latest to join the growing list of wannabe J K Rowlings are Geri Halliwell and Coleen McLoughlin, whose attempts at kiddie fiction are about to hit the shelves," writes the paper. "Coleen's Style Queen series tell the story of a girl called, er, Coleen, who helps her friends out with their fashion disasters.
"Meanwhile, Geri's Ugenia Lavender series follows the adventures of a frecklefaced girl with a ginger bob. Sound familiar?
"Coleen and Geri are just the latest celebs to dip their pens into the lucrative children's market. Madonna's English Roses series and Ricky Gervais's Flanimals have both shifted thousands of copies, while Katie Price's Perfect Ponies series has been an astonishing sucess - despite the fact she never actually wrote a word herself."
The young readers' feedback was mainly positive.
