Priviate equity wants Bookspan
US-based private equity company Ripplewood is interested in buying German publishing giant Bertelsmann's US book club Bookspan and Columbia House's DVD club. The information comes from Manager Magazin which reported it without stating where it got the information.
Bertelsmann aims to find a buyer for the units, which have attracted several dozen interested parties, by the end of July, the magazine said in an excerpt of an article to be published on Friday. Among them, Bertelsmann's head of the club business, Stuart Goldfarb, is considering a management buyout and is seeking possible investors, it said.
